Media Education Skills among Students of the University of Petra in Jordan

Abstract
The study aimed to identify media education skills among the students of Petra University in Jordan. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach. To achieve its objectives, the researcher designed a questionnaire comprising (37) items on (5) media skills: Content, critical thinking, media awareness, communication, and content production. Validity and reliability were verified.
The study was applied to a sample of 417 male and female students from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The results revealed that students’ media communication skills were high. The skills are ranked as follows: media communication, content production, media awareness, critical thinking, and content understanding.
The results revealed no statistically significant differences in the skill of media education in light of gender and faculty variables.
The study proposed a set of recommendations, the foremost of which are media education skills that affect students’ personalities, and designing a directory for such skills to secure better teaching.
